The Patrium Government Railways (PGR) is the state owned rail provider for The Republic of Patrium. It provides service to Patrium towns and villages, and is the main method to travel around the country. It also connects to Seananville at the far south of its reach. On multi-track lines, trains drive on the left.

The PGR utilises two main gauges: Minecraft (632mm/2ft 0.8819in), and Cape (1067mm/3ft 6in).

The Gauge Question

The PGR was officially formed when Patrium was officially founded on the 4/6/23. However, plans were being made as early as May. The main decision needing to be made was gauge; what gauge would be best suited for the 30km trip back to spawn. Options were narrowed down to Cape (1067mm/3ft 6in) or Standard (1435mm / 4ft 8.5in) Gauge. Cape Gauge was eventually chosen as, despite the lack of rolling stock initially available, it was 3/4 of the price. Cape Gauge allows a railway line to be built far cheaper than a comparable Standard Gauge line, however, this leads to a decrease in speed: the PGRs upcoming CS2 4-6-0 Express passenger locomotive only has a top speed of 95 km/h (26m/s or 59mph), the same as a GER Precedent Class.

Cape Gauge Network

The Trunk Line

The trunk line is a quadruple track (currrently single track as other tracks are WIP) from Patrium City to Compitum, where the line splits. Slow Lines for Commuter and Freight services run on the outside tracks, and expresses run on the inner ones.

The Main Line (not really started yet, I don't have enough steel)

The main line runs along the trunk line from Patrium City, before running south to the coast as a dual track line. Once it reaches the coast it narrows down to single track for the 20km stretch to the Rack-dorn interchange.

The Ashinma Railway

The Ashinma Railway is a 7km line (at present only 3km is constructed) from Seananville to the Rack-Dorn interchange, via the Patrian Province of Ashinma.

It was originally an independent railway company managed by the Ashinman government, built in late may 2023, but due to changing political attitudes in ashinma, a few weeks it was abandoned. The infrastructure was destroyed at the ashinma end, and track taken up at the Seananville end. The 4 locomotives designed for the railway were remodelled in PGR livery.

However, on the 19/10/23, Ashinma was assimilated into Patrium as a province. This allowed the PGR to rebuild the Line, and also to extend it to connect to the Cape Gauge main line near Rack-Dorn. The track had to be realigned at Seananville, due to the SNVF station now on the site of the original station. As such, the line runs past Seananville Airport, and terminates next to the GER Seananville station.

Rolling Stock and SRSC

SRSC

SRSC stands for System for Rolling Stock Classification, and is a 3-character classification system for all rolling stock on the PGR. It works as follows:

X: The Gauge (C for Cape, M for Minecraft)

Y: The Type (S for Steam Loco, D for Diesel Loco, T for Tender, F for Freight wagon, L for Liquid Wagon, P for Passenger Wagon, and W for Waycar)

Z: A number counting up from 1

For example, the first locomotive class the PGR had, a 4-4-0T built in Novaterra, would be a Class CS1
